Sunflower Fused Bowl first display at Alresford Exhibition.
After the disappointment of the glass cracking in the kiln with my first attempt to make a Sunflower bowl, I’m pleased to show you the result of my second try. With a three stage firing to produce the fused and shaped glass, there is always the possibility of something going wrong, but I’d made some changes to my method and this time it worked.
This is another of my new pieces for an Exhibition in September inspired by the works of William De Morgan.
The Sunflower Bowl was ready to show at the Alresford Exhibition in April where I was a guest of the Hampshire and Berkshire Guild of Craftsmen. Alresford is a still unspoilt English Village famous for watercress. It was an enjoyable weekend mixing with skilled arts and crafts people who work with a variety of media, and having my work admired and bought by visitors.
